In Beijing, Microsoft proclaimed that it has approved two Chinese firms, Hu'nan Talkweb Information systems and Shenzhen Comtech, to use their mobile visual optimization technology, individualized facial cartoon picture technology and mobile picture technology
Microsoft Research Asia (MSR) has developed these technologies. This is Microsoft's first cooperation with Chinese firms since the induction of its patent technology cooperation program in 2005.
Microsoft's motive behind this move is to introduce the global enterprises to innovative technology to expedite the development of these enterprises. By doing this, Microsoft wants to promote the growth of software industry globally
Dr. Zhang Yaqin, Vice-president, Microsoft and President, Microsoft's China Research and Development Group, said that implementation of this cooperation program in China has extended the growth realms of Microsoft and local economy. Also, it is the beginning of an era of cooperation and progression between local IT enterprises and Microsoft.
In the views of Research Analyst at RNCOS, who has recently researched a report on "Opportunities in Chinese Software Industry (2007)", the investment being made by Microsoft in China will not only augment the economy but will also lead to the growth of software industry and IT sector. Overall, it is estimated that the Chinese Software Market size would reach around US$ 57 Billion by the end of 2006, and thereafter, it is projected to grow with a CAGR of around 30% till 2010.
