China Unicom - The Emerging Leader In Chinese Telecom Industry |

With consecutive increase since July 2006, China Unicom is fast emerging as the most prominent player in China telecom industry following China Mobile
Showing non-stop increase in both GSM and CDMA subscriptions, China Unicom -the telecom Giant - added 373,000 more subscribers in its CDMA network during the month of November 2006. This represents largest month on month growth since July in same year, as per the news published on Sina.com - the largest portal of China - on 20 December 2006.
Above 36 million people are covered under the CDMA network of China Unicom. Company's GSM subscriptions also rose by 930,000 and reached nearly 105 million, thereby bringing the total subscribers of the company to around 141 million in November 2006, as per the website.
China Unicom -second largest mobile operator of the country next only to China Mobile - increased its operating profits to US$ 1.59 Billion in the H1 of 2006. The CDMA network of the company promotes itself by claiming larger capacity with higher communication quality and low radiation.
Industry experts at RNCOS said, "Overall CDMA market's growth is the biggest challenge the companies in telecom industry have been facing so far. All specific software features can't be justified unless there's a significant growth in this market. And, China Unicom remained pretty successful in attainting this goal."
