Intex has dynamic plans and strategies as it foray into a new market of mobile handsets and aims to become a major player in the telecommunication world.
With GSM mobile handsets, Intex Technologies (I) Ltd. has entered into the field of communication. It has been a major player in the field of IT hardware for the last 11 years and also made its presence felt in the entertainment and electronic items. Intex wants to provide consumers with different products under one roof, says news on Moneycontrol
Intex President Ramesh A Vaswani said to The Economics Times that the company has come out with three phone models alongwith a tie-up with Buena Vista Internet Group, a part of leading entertainment brand Walt Disney, and they will provide contents on the mobile phones.
"Our entry into mobile phones is aimed at satisfying the needs of communication of Indian masses. We have lined up an interesting range of phones with advanced features and good price points. Our association with Walt Disney will hopefully be of great interest to the intelligent, well-exposed and aspiring young generation of India," Narendra Bansal, CMD, Intex, said in news published on EFY Group.
Disney characters like Mickey-Minnie and stars from the Pirates of Caribbean are available on the phone in various services.
India, the world’s fastest growing mobile market, also loves films and entertainment products. Therefore, besides voice calls, demand for multimedia handsets and value-added services (VAS) like music, wallpapers, ringtones etc is rising in the country.
Though SMS is the main revenue generator, there is demand for other services like ring tones, wallpapers, and gaming etc. Unlike in high end PCs and consoles, which only a few can afford, games on mobile can be accessed by the average user and that too, inexpensively. The main reason for the success of mobile gaming is that it caters to the needs of the common man.
The rapidly expanding Indian mobile market will continue multiplying in the coming years alongwith the demand for multimedia services thereby creating great opportunity for content providers, says a research analyst at RNCOS.
